VC and The Mannequin Store crafts a profound narrative of identity, connection, and deep-seated desires. At the heart of this piece is the VC, donned in a futuristic tracksuit, representing a nexus between current realities and looming aspirations.

The storefront, more than just a display, transforms into a realm of reflection. The central question becomes evident: is the VC simply charmed by the mannequins that so closely resemble him, or is he deeply moved by his very own likeness?

In an act that transcends mere symbolism, the VC's hand, reaching out with glitching intent towards one specific mannequin, reveals his choice. He's not just acknowledging his reflection; he's choosing to embrace it, to take it and the mannequin home, to love it. Amid the impersonal ambiance, this act becomes a poignant declaration of self-love, accentuated by the VC's Wall Street ambitions and the intense narcissism they engender.

A glitch, a malfunction from a TV monitor or in a video game, distortions, misalignments, malfunctions, grainy images, and hardware failures are tools to transmit repetitions, technology and sentimentality for a lost era, an attempt to refer to nostalgia and/or net art. What is commonly used by the artists in this selection is the crossover between digital and analog that seems to be a recurrent point in some of the practices and an important aspect in the treatment of the imagery and of the sound—the collapsing of the linear time frame seems to be of interest and an important creative methodology.
The glitch aesthetic is an effective and affective tool to explore contemporary yearning for past generations, often used nowadays by artists who have not necessarily experienced a real TV glitch! But it is also a trend of its own, a creative and critical tool of a failing technology and society.
