Mars House is a surreal creation – it is a modernist 3D render of a glass house on a hilly part of the red planet. Here we can refer to architects such as Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe, Philip Johnson to Sarah Waller, but also Philip K. Dick with Martian Time-Slipin terms of storytelling where imperialism is applied to Martian colonization. The moving image NFT brings its audience from the outside pool lounging chairs to the inside of the house. There’s an uncanny feeling of being in post-earth life, somewhere between the movies Oblivion to Total Recall.

Krista Kim is a contemporary artist and founder of the Techism movement (2014), whose work explores the concept of digital consciousness. Her interest in digital technology and its revolutionary effects on human perception, media, social structures, and communication led her to work in both digital and physical realms. Having developed her signature language of shifting gradients using digital software since 2012, her works on glass and plexi hypnotize its viewers into a trance of tranquility while her video works provide meditative experiences of color and light.


Mars House is the first NFT digital house in the world.  Upon purchase of Mars House NFT, 3D files will be sent to the new owner by Krista Kim Studio Inc. for file upload to the owner’s Metaverse. Technical support for Mars House integration on Metaverse is provided.

Comprised entirely of light, the visual effects of her crypto-home are meant to omit a zen, healing atmosphere. The artist also partnered with musician Jeff Schroeder of The Smashing Pumpkins to create a calming musical accompaniment. So what makes the file a compelling purchase? Beyond the promise of buying into the lucrative NFT market, the home and all of the furniture in it can be built in real life by glass furniture-makers in Italy, as well as through MicroLED screen technology. Kim also has a strong visions the art being projected, as well. “Everyone should install an LED wall in their house for NFT art.” says the artist. “ This is the future, and Mars House demonstrates the beauty of that possibility.”

The owner is in agreement to the following terms and conditions upon purchase of Mars House (hereby referred to as Mars House NFT):

The collector agrees to own one copy of Mars House NFT on a single Metaverse platform.  The collector is required to register Mars House NFT ownership with Krista Kim Studio Inc.
Krista Kim Studio Inc. will provide technical support to upload and integrate Mars House NFT on a Metaverse platform.
If/when Mars House is resold, the collector is required to delete all Mars House NFT 3D file(s) from his/her Metaverse, and provide verification of deletion to Krista Kim Studio Inc. before new 3D files are transferred to the new owner by the artist.
The new owner is required to register Mars House NFT ownership with Krista Kim Studio Inc.  Krista Kim Studio will send Mars House NFT 3D files directly to the new owner and provide support for Metaverse integration.
This verified ownership transfer system will be appointed to Krista Kim Studio Inc. trusteeship, after 40 years of the date of the sale.

I feel that our society needs an antidote to the relentless disruption to the relentless distraction that social media is causing. We are bombarded with thousands of messages every day on our screens, and most of the time these messages are used to exploit us or to manipulate us.

I wanted to use the light of our screens to create a sublime experience. When I lived in Tokyo I would walk in the middle of the city where there is constant activity and congestion in the streets, I would end up on a side street and I would discover a hidden Zen garden and this garden was a vacuum of positive energy. The intention was to create a meditative space, a space of stillness and contemplation. Just outside of the garden limits was a bustling city. I would marvel at this phenomenon of the intention to create a space that is meant for mindfulness and I wanted to create that same experience digitally as a digital Zen garden.

Borrowing the title from Italo Calvino’s eponymous novel as a kind of travelogue to imaginary cities, the following selection of works pays tribute to how vivid and detailed imagination can be.

From designers, architects, and artists, we focused here on the idea of a journey or a time capsule into otherworldly cities that defy quantum possibilities – this series of NFTs is set from the point of view of a multiverse adventurer gallivanting from parallel natures to other cosmos and macrocosm.
