Loving and accepting all facets of myself has been an ongoing journey for me. We usually believe that loving oneself is straightforward and easy but if we are to dig deeper we'll see it's one of the most difficult things which also affects how we love others. For me personally, Yoga has been a catalyst in helping me listen, understand and love myself.

The Ancient Greeks had eight words that corresponded to different types of love. Here I present to you my take on 5 of them.

Self Love

The Greeks understood that in order to care for others, we must first learn to care for ourselves.

As Aristotle said “All friendly feelings for others are an extension of a man’s feelings for himself.”

You cannot share what you do not have. If you do not love yourself, you cannot love anyone else either. The only way to truly be happy is to find that unconditional love for yourself. Often learning to love yourself involves embracing all the qualities you perceive as “unlovable”.
