Ready for the Rush
By Mine Manap TurelThis ubiquitous setup immediately captured the photographer's eye in me. The front of every store, is transparent but separate. A single man, a chef, or a small team of cooks and servers...
The Noren (half curtain at the entrance) which is not only a decoration but a necessity in cramped streets where countless salarymen drink and dine, created boundaries as well as situational frames where things happened vs. where people flowed.
Seeing the man within his own frame set up for him the composition almost set itself up for me. This is the main vein that pumps the allure of japan. People create their own frames and place themselves in most fitting arrangement in them.
