By SimaEnaga【八岐大蛇 / Yamata-no-Orochi】
“Yamata-no-Orochi” is a legendary monster with eight heads. They say Yamata-no-Orochi had inhabited a heavy snowfall area near the Sea of Japan.
This monster had come to Izumo, now Shimane Prefecture, to eat females every year. Susanoo, a violent god, made Yamata-no-Orochi drink strong sake, and defeated the drunken monster.
At that time, the bronze sword came out of the Yamata-no-Orochi.
This is the “Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi“ well known as the three sacred treasures in Japan.
【Meaning】 “八岐/Yamata” means ”the things divided into eight”. “大蛇/Orochi” means "giant snake”.
【Concept】 This monster has been portrayed as a multi-headed snake, but has often been portrayed as a dragon since the Edo period. Therefore, I also rebooted as an Asian-style dragon.
