The Keep

By Nicolas Sassoon

The Keep is a digital animation initiated in 2019 and finalized in 2021, inspired by the architecture of the Winnipeg Art Gallery conceived by Gustavo da Roza in 1971. In the animation, the museum’s architecture has been simplified and positioned on a small island, appearing like a futuristic bunker or an insular fortress. As such, this work is meant to be a playful and critical commentary on western cultural institutions and their architectures, as structures and symbols of centralized power.
